Sorry it wasn't clear. Two paragraphs two points. 1st para point was if
you really worried use the best tape you can afford how one determines that
I dunno. We've only ever used Sony Full size DVCAM and Digibeta tapes on
productions. 2nd para its what I get away with at home with my PD-150.
I've taken this camera all over the world in the heat, dust, altitude and
humidity of the subcontinent and SE Asia and the like. I've had not drop
out so far. I always record in DVCAM mode. I have always tried to ensure
that the camera never gets exposed to the chill of air conditioning should
the hotel have it! The camera sits in a padded insulated bag overnight and
is allowed to "warm up" before use.
I may have been lucky using such bargain basement media but perhaps its show
that if one shows the medium respect and takes great pains to keep dust and
moisture out of the tape mechanism just how "lucky" one can be.
