I have seen both the HD DVD and Blu Ray machines with HDMI fed to a very
high end Plasma. They look wonderful.

They do not look a quantum leap above upconverted DVD in the same setting,
however. I think this incremental change will not attract a huge number of
consumers to buy yet more versions of the movies they like.

If, however, the writable discs get around $5 or so, instead of $20,
internal writers for PCs could be the niche for these media.
