And you can't make bacon out of a silk purse! The amount of quality that
is useful over NTSC is highly limited by the transmission and TV
characteristics regardless of their precision (a.k.a. quality). So while
you may be right that 25Mbps is > say 9Mbps, if the user is going to put
it on an NTSC TV it will make no difference.
When Sony comes out with a DVD for HDTV it will out sell and look as
good to consumers as DV50 - but professionals will want the DV50 because
they have other needs (e.g. editing).
It's a price/performance tradeoff depending on who is doing the
"producing."
