Seems like simple trig if you are assuming that the diagonal
(the hypotenuse of the triangle) is actually "1/3 of an inch".

Otherwise, it is not something you can "calculate", you must
get the actual image area dimensions from the manufacturer.

"1/3 of an inch" is a nominal size (to distinguish it from the
1/2 and 2/3 and 1/4 inch series.
