Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ANOTHER PUBLIC ENEMY, THE BIG
RACKET, CARBIDE AND SORREL, DUANE HOPWOOD, LEFT BEHIND COLLECTION,
ORIGINAL DIRTY PAIR: OVA COLLECTION BOX, PENN AND TELLER: OFF THE DEEP
END, and PITTSBURGH PIRATES: THE 1979 WORLD SERIES:
ANOTHER PUBLIC ENEMY (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall
score 70/100):
"There's a decent enough flick buried somewhere inside Another Public
Enemy, but you would need to cut away forty minutes of flab in order
to find it."

THE BIG RACKET (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall score 86/100):
"With more firearm blasts, squibs, and causalities than any hardboiled
action fans could ever hope for, this is easily one of the longest and
bloodiest massacres ever in a polizieschi. It is an undeniable technical
achievement and reason enough to check out this wild flick."

CARBIDE AND SORREL (reviewed by James A. Stewart, overall score 84/100):
"Carbide and Sorrel is a lot like the jokes that circulated behind the
Berlin Wall. The droll chuckles and occasional slapstick are linked to
an empathetic look at the deprivations and oddities of East German life
after the war."

DUANE HOPWOOD (reviewed by Brendan Babish, overall score 70/100):
"Duane Hopwood portrays painful life issues that, if presented in a
frank manner, would make for difficult viewing. Instead, whenever the
movie gets too heavy, writer/director Matt Mulhern introduces a
cheesy, uplifting montage or an inexplicable one-night stand, to ease
the tension."

LEFT BEHIND COLLECTION (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score
70/100):
"I honestly think that your appreciation of these movies will largely be
informed by where you stand theologically. That being said, no matter
what you believe, it would be hard for me to understand why an objective
film viewer would find these films anything more than 'sorta dopey.'"

ORIGINAL DIRTY PAIR: OVA COLLECTION BOX (reviewed by Rob Lineberger,
overall score 75/100):
"Yes, anime fans, Dirty Pair treads those hallowed anime waters: girls
with guns. In fact, 'girls with guns' simultaneously describes its
raison d'etre, cast list, and modus operandi."

PENN AND TELLER: OFF THE DEEP END (reviewed by David Ryan, overall
score 75/100):
"Although it is entertaining (well...most of it is), and has some of
that good ol' Penn & Teller wit and attitude, it lacks the anarchy
and sense of danger that have been P&T's hallmarks over the years."

PITTSBURGH PIRATES: THE 1979 WORLD SERIES (reviewed by Ryan Keefer,
overall score 71/100):
"The first time I think I questioned the existence of God in Heaven and
on Earth had to be the 1979 World Series. And I damn near choked on my
peanut brittle in the country cabin my family and I were in when the
Pirates came from behind to take the Series. From that moment on, I
started smoking, lost my hair and became the lovable grouch that I am
now -- and I was in second grade when that started."
