Using ITunes, I ripped a CD - only to find out that the tunes are in m4a
format (protected, I think). ITunes will play them, but I'm using MP3Gain
to equalize the sound - and MP3Gain won't work on m4a files.

1. Can someone recommend a (free) converter (m4a to mp3, CD files to mp3)?


2. Even using MP3Gain, during playback, some of the tunes are much louder
than others - so it makes it seem like MP3Gain isn't working like it should.
Anyone else have this problem?
