I have tried that first, using Ulead DVD Moviefactory 4. A test learned that
it took over 2 hours of converting, for a DIVX AVI of 10 minutes playing
time! So it is really no option to use this process for up to 2 hours long
movies.

Now I use another approach: I play the DIVX file on the computer using
PowerDVD (or media player) and I have the video out and audio out of
computer (Matrox Marvel 450) connected to my HDD DVD recorder (LG RH7500).
This works fine and at least it takes no longer than the regular playing
time.
