DRM stands for "Digital Rights Management". It's the ability of the
company you buy the song from to decide what you can and can't do with
it. These permissions may include copying the song to a certain number
of other computers, or transferring it to an MP3 player or burning a
certain number of audio-CD's. They might let you do a lot with it or
practically nothing.
The name is pretty Orwellian when you think about it, eh?
