Because they're one of the biggest sellers of DVDs, and if they say,
"We're thinking about not carrying Season 2 because the packaging is
too bulky to fit easily on our shelves, and besides the first set
didn't sell as well as we expected, probably because the price is
too high," the studio will do anything it can to make sure Wal Mart
sells the second season.

This is the same reason record companies produce cleaned-up versions
of albums with explicit lyrics -- it's not that they think there's a
big market for rap songs with curse words removed, but that's what
Wal-Mart will carry.
