I have an old C Band dish and analog receiver. I also have a Pansat 2500A
which has its own Ku Band steerable 1 metre dish. The Pansat is connected
to the existing C Band linear lnb through a coaxial switch which it (the
Pansat) controls. It was a fairly simple set up. I point the dish using
the C Band receiver and set the polarisation by selecting the appropriate
channel number. The Pansat is supposed to be able to set the polarisation
but I haven't been able to get this to work so far.
There are several satellites carrying FTA signals on C Band.
Perhaps I should say that out of the hundreds of channels I can access I
only regularly watch about 6 as many are in languages I don't understand or
are religious; fitness and so on, which do not interest me. I particularly
enjoy the Chinese News channel in English, the NASA channel and even a few
shopping channels. There are often news feeds to be found too.
Have fun. It doesn't cost much really.
