Well just messing with it now. To be honest its doing my head in a bit. It's
a nice machine so far. I had a LiteOn LVW5045 for 11 months but literally
threw it back to Currys as after many firmware updates it was still crap.
Then tried the Sony RDRHXD710 which was great but not if you wanted to
retain anamorphic recordings on DVD+R/RW DL.

So far the quality of the Philips is good but it's operating system sucks
after the basicness of the LiteOn and the niceness of the Sony. Everything
is recorded to a buffer first which makes editing (for me) a pain and I'm
gonna have to wade through the manual.

From the off though the Freeview tuner looks better and smoother than the
Sony in Progressive Scan mode and the general picture is nice. Not tried a
5.1 recording yet so I'll have to mess about.

It takes forever to tune in and found 15 rubbish analogue channels that I
can't find how to delete (just not mark them as favourites and they don't
appear then).

I'll keep messing!
