I haven't done any golf - - mostly college basketball. And when I do it,
it's as a video op in the truck. In that slot, get to see every shot the
camera ops offer - - even the ugly ones the director doesn't take. And as
a non-sports director myself, I sometimes have to resist the desire to start
coaching the camera ops on shots. (heck, they probably wouldn't listen
anyway . . .)

What _I'M_ amazed at is how far ahead a really good producer/director
is thinking. He's not only dealing with the normal flow of the game - -
which is hard enough - - but trying to juggle the breaks with network,
coordinate the product mentions, the sponsored elements, and replay packages
and all the stuff that makes money for the show.
