Mr Tapeguy and nappy both have some good points. I worked in IT for 23
years and have built custom PC's for NLE, didn't know much then about
NLE except how to make the computer work and assemble it. I now, would
be what some would consider to be a macfanboy. I have demonstrated to
myself, when I got into NLE, that mac does simply work out of the box.
That does not mean it is perfect, but mac is closer than I have seen
from most PCs with very few expensive exceptions.

Nappy had a two points that I agree with and feel they should be
pointed out. 1. FCP/FCS or FCE do render slow, compared to Avid. 2.
Now is not the time to buy mac and FCP/FCS/FCE unless you get a G5.
FCP/FCSand FCE are coded for the PowerPC processors, and not optimized
for Intel, YET. Next year, would be fine (my prediction) to buy an
MacIntel with FinalCut.
