A survey? Are you serious? DV Magazine?

That's sad tapeguy.

DV Magazine.

here'' I can tell you what the situation really is.

There are TONS of FCP rigs here in LA. Mostly independents and low budget
folks. Editors work on these rigs for as little as $5/hour. A great
percentage of them are doing 'deferred' work.. which means the movie sucks
and the work is free.
In higher end facilities there are indeed FCP rigs. A large percentage of
them are there to handle any of those indy folks who can beg enough money to
finish somewhere. But the pricey rooms in those facilities are running
avids.

Most all of the high end work is still done on Avids. however, there are
plenty of facilities using the other editors also, Premiere, Liquid.. etc.

Like the mac, FCP is making inroads because people are buying them to run
in their homes. The Mac achieved its user base by inundating universities
with them and when those people graduated they had a built in bias. FCP is
achieving the same thing. Surely doesn;t make it any better than anything
else out there. It's just the brainwashed mac crowd.... Probably a good
South Park in there somewhere.. like the "Hybrid" episode.

DV Magazine.. what a joke.
