No.
But the point is you don't need to use the iTunes store to use an iPod,
just like you don't need to use any of the pay WMA-DRM vendors to use a
WMA-DRM capable player.
I have an iPod and haven't (yet) used the store. I record music myself
from my own collection, and subscribe to several free podcasts.
