Its what occasionally happens when soldiers are put into situations
where they are faced with frequent random violence and no enemy to
fight. Well organized and disciplined forces such as the US army usually
avoid this, but it does happen. To see how less disciplined forces react
to situations such as this look to places like East Timor for a recent
example.
