Wow, I'm ASTONISHED at you guys.

You sound like a bunch of grumpy old men sitting on a porch in some
small town saying �kids these days, they don't know NOTHING, why when I
was I kid��

The truth is that there's not a SINGLE ONE of us who, when we were 16 or
17 and offered a paid internship on the Carson Daily show, wouldn't have
felt like we'd died and gone to heaven.

And as to the incessant carping about the �shakeycam� technique,
personally I haven't seen that on a tape from anyone in about ten years!
Hell, in the young girl's work I referenced in the initial post
EVERYTING on a shot on sticks.

I still think the truth is that the industry is changing around us yet
again. No different than when the PortaPack took ENG out of the studio
and into the streets.

I'm sure there were a bunch of old farts back then arguing that any
camera not on a studio pedestal tripod was only capable of crappy,
shakey shots.

For all the good that argument did.

Look, I'm a card carrying old guy too. But I'm not a stupid old guy. And
I hope I never get so old I lose my ability to see things that might be
fresh and new and give them an honest evaluation to see if they might
mean something to my practice.

I'm really surprised at this thread. It's like throwing a party and as
you walk through the living room, nobody's talking about art, or music,
or movies, or creativity, they're all just sitting around grumbling
loudly about Social Security or discussing their recent bladder
operations.
