if the filenames are of the same format (or you can sort them by format)
then you could re-tag them from the filenames. You might not get all the
data back, but at least 'artist - trackname' is better than nothing. If
you have other data in the filenames you should be able to restore that too.

Various mp3 batch-taggers will do this.
