I need to edit some old mp3 files for which the original sources are
not longer available - this means working directly on the mp3 files
themselves, so some losses will be inevitable.

Can I minimise these losses if, after editing, I save the files at a
higher rate than the originals, e.g. 192kbps instead of 128kbps?
