DAT totally creamed QIC, as well as exabyte (which is only a brand,
BTW).

It had a 1GB capacity (or more) so it killed them there as well.
Once it came out, it was the standard choice of IT pros that new what
they were doing and had a budget to do it with.

DAT backup softwares were typically in the $5k ballpark.
