When you say "recently", do you mean that there was some time between
the update and your WinMX problems? If so, then maybe the IE update
isn't the problem - have you run a virus or spyware sweep recently? I
was having some WinMX download problems of my own recently, but running
a Spybot scan brought those problems to an end.

Have you tried downloading popular media files recently? WinMX has
problems when it tries to download what are likely corrupted or fake or
otherwise bad files - normally those having names of popular songs,
movies or TV shows.
