not very long it wouldn't. aklines are low power, but cheap. recharbles
have a bit more power but tend to be NiCad which have problems with
memory.

i use a ipod in all weathers and it doesn't go flat due to being cold
like AA's or larger NiCad batterys do, and being a fairly sealed unit
makes the ipod about as water proof mp3 player as you can find which is
handy as i'm out in all weathers and it does get soaked.
