My circa '99 Toshiba TV would not operate when both S-Video AND
composite video were connected to video-1 (both of these inputs
were assigned to this "channel"). If you have an S-Video
connection made, remove the composite (yellow cable).

If you have component inputs (red, green, blue coded) on the TV
and outputs on either or both devices, use those in lieu of
either S-Video or composite video.

If your TV is like my discarded Toshiba, you won't be able to
connect using only composite and S-Video; you'd need to daisy
chain the devices or use component connections.
