Tally-ho! Excellent advise. If you look at wide-shots with people small in
the frame, you will see that the faces are fairly dark (high contrast). On
the close-ups you can start filling in with bounce light. All of course if
you're using backlight to shoot.

As more people mentioned, shoot before 10AM and after 4PM. This is a good
time to shoot your wide-shots, because you don't have strong reflection
yet. However you have to keep in mind the continuity of the direction of
the light. To "help" this continuity, permitting the background of the
shots, you can move the band around. Especially if you are going to do the
close-ups.
