What's "Superbit DVDs"? You mean DVDs released by Columbia under a label of
that name? ...They are afterall no different to ones released under any
other label.
Any article in What Video or elsewhere that quotes "Superbit DVDs" in a
conspiracy theory like that is complete and utter... poo poo.

I've been viewing DVDs on a projector via DVI at '720p' for well-over a year
now (two?).
They do indeed look as well as (if not better than) almost all HD images
I've seen.

Still, done right, HD is far and away better. The HD episode of ROME that I
saw for instance was a BIG improvement over any other moving image I've ever
seen (outside of 'real life').

I think most HD stuff is not done properly yet -just like most/a lot of dvds
weren't either when first released. Manufacturers/studios don't do
themselves any favours by releasing sub-standard fare. They need to go back
to the source in most cases (is my guess) and re-remaster that material,
instead of relying on remasters that were done years ago for laserdisc
and/or dvd.

[...I don't honestly know if they have done that or not, or if it's an
issue, but it _looks_ to me like that's what they need to be doing if they
want to get the best HD image.]
