Perhaps the crap that sony will have in the PS3 will be remedied
as quickly. The difference is that when the PS2 came out with its shit
DVD drives, the DVD format could be played in any number <$150
players already out on the market.

If I'm going to pay upwards of a thousand dollars over the next year for HDTV
media, I'm going to want more of a choice than a toy game console with a crap
drive or the two unproven >$900 players on the market.
