SVHS gives you 8 hours of TOTAL CRAP on a tape.
DVD recorders can also adjust the quality level downwards
to trade off quality for time the same as a VCR can (if you really
want to).
It's just MPEG2 after all. You could tune it to any arbitrary
bitrate if you really wanted to rather than just a few pre-canned
options that VHS could offer.
Don't comment on things you obviously have no clue about.
