What terrible mis-information. And what manufacturers actually make their
own DVD blank media?

Ensure your burner has the latest firmware
Stick with Japanese media, such as Taiyo-Yuden (see www.supemediastore.com)
Realize that when you see DVD's with "Maxell" or "Sony", etc. most likely
they did not make them and they are not made in Japan.
I think DVD-R's work better in standalone DVD players. I usually burn at 4x
