Which statistic are you referring to?

If you're referring to customer satisfaction and rate of repairs check
Consumer Reports. As an aside, both FCS and Vegas won awards from
Videomaker in '05.

I am unaware of anywhere that a Mac costs 3 times as much as a
similarly spec'd PC but admittedly they were at a premium compared to
PC's depending on how you bought the PC. With the switch to Intel it
seems that any differences have been drastically reduced.

Vegas+DVD is around $600-$675 and FCS about twice that. FCS includes
Live Type, Compressor, Motion, DVD Studio Pro and Soundtrack Pro.
Final Cut Pro alone did not have the audio capabilities of Vegas but
Soundtrack Pro does.

As far as having a convoluted workflow that is a very subjective
judgment. As with any non-linear program some like it and some don't
but overall I don't think it would have the installed user base it has.
Most of the gripes I hear about FCS come from Avid users working on a
Unity or Adrenaline system costing much more and there are particularly
still some media management issues that Apple has to address on that
level. XSAN is working towards that.

As far as support from the user base I was not referring to PC vs. Mac;
I was referring to Final Cut Studio vs. Vegas. FCS users are plentiful
and growing. Vegas not so much.
