I was thinking, here we have a self-proclaimed "old" person, who will
do better in face-to-face conversation where he can ask questions and
get answers. (I notice that none of the people who pooh-poohed my
suggestion bothered to nswer the OP's questions themselves.)
And I was also going by my own experience, where the young guys
working in the electronics departments of the two Wal-marts I've
visited may not have been electronics geniuses but could answer basic
questions intelligently.
Somebody who doesn't know the difference between a DVD burner and a
standalone recorder has _basic_ questions, and I stand by my
recommendation, as having a decent likelihood of success in an
imperfect world.
