You can pan easily with a Steadicam jr. Essentially the camera has to be
perfectly balanced (a long and slightly complicated process) so that the
camera "floats" level on a gimbal mount. There is a collar on the gimbal
which you can grasp lightly with your thumb and forefinger and which you can
turn to pan the camera. Because of the weighting it is much more difficult
to tilt, but you can also do that within a limited range.
