Why don't you put another video switcher after it? 
 
You can use one of those $25.00 a/v switch boxes (RCA in/out). Or to go 
on the cheap, get a standard cable A/B switch (RF connectors) and use 
adapters for RCA. Some of my systems STILL use the cable A/B to switch 
government meetings on the air. 
 
I presume the headend detects incoming video and switches to it. Like I 
said, use an external switch. Have the Videonics "in black". As soon as 
your signal hits air and is stable, dissolve up to your program.
