thank you so much! I will get a media center PC and give it a try.

also, I have a Tivo and a Panasonic DVR with 160GB Hard drive. Right
now I hooked up the Tivo to the DVR by s-video, and then the DVR to TV,
and decide to do this:

1. Make most recordings by the Tivo, because Tivo is really good with
season pass and keyword auto recording.

2. Set the Tivo to medium quality. I used to set it to Basic quality
and the quality wasn't very good. But I do that so that I can have
more programs on the Tivo. But now I just watched some old recordings
on the Tivo and found that the medium quality is so much better than
the basic.

3. Periodically, just record those programs to the Panasonic DVR onto
the DVD-R. Probably I will group the similar programs together, so
that I can better index the DVD-R. I tried using SP record mode, but
since you told me Tivo's medium quality is 352 x 480, so I will try the
LP mode as well, since I think the LP (4 hour mode) is the 352 x 480
setting.
