how about panasonic's dvc30 and dvc60 both a pro line cameras and can be
bought for around where he wants to be. why not steer him in that direction
so that he can get his hands on pro gear with xlr's, manual controls, steady
cam operation with the large footprint shoulder mount, and well . . . i know
it's not a Sony but it's used by a lot of tv stations across the USA.

and once you get your hands on a panasonic, you just can't seem to lay them
down, you want to shoot everything because their so much fun . . i know
because i've had Sony and Panasonic and i loooooooooove the panasonic's . .
especially the DV PROLINE and that i can use any tape in them except Sony
brand tapes because of the WET lub Sony uses and requires. BTW mr buyer, if
you use other tapes in the Sony camera it will gum up the wet required drive
system while most everyone else uses dry which can be blown out :o)
