Heh heh. I had to snort when I heard Brandy telling Piers "I know what I'm
talking about" re: the girl group. Geezus, give me a break. Brandy is the
archetypical model of a pop star who's a star ONLY because she's photogenic.
One of the weakest singers in pop history. She has no real vocal chops,
whispers her way through her songs. Her commentary about the "lack of
chemistry" of the girl group was strictly visual, they were all very
different in appearance, and not neccessarily cover girl material ala the
Spice Girls. I thought they were okay vocally, not spectacular, but not
abysmal. I thought they were on par with the male doo wop group, which is to
say, passable, not phenomenal.

I'm personally not keen on this "urban warble" style of vocal delivery
that's become ubiquitous among female singers both black and white.

I hear Hasselhoff is supposed to be a singer, and is popular as such in
Europe. I've never heard him so can't say if he has any real talent. Could
he really not tell that the little girl playing the piano made numerous
outright flubs along with rhythmic problems? Cute, but not a standout as a
player. In an actual age-group piano competition, she wouldn't stand a
chance.

Especially since he's made so much noise since then about how they're
looking for "high quality" talent. In general they've been all over the map
as to their assessments. They all pee'd their pants over that Whitney
Houston wannabe Alexis Jordon on the first show, but I suppose once they
heard Bianca Ryan, a girl who was 3 years younger but a far more capable
singer, they realized how mediocre Alexis was. They should have known it
right away.

IMO, Bianca Ryan has been the only one of the singers who's shown true star
potential. The yodeler was cute but her actual singing is so-so and the
yodeling is gonna get old quick.
