Hello group,
I'm a newbie here. Three weeks ago, I got a Sony DCR-HC36 DV camera from
my family. Until last night, I have been in China with my wife adopting a
new daughter. I am now in the process of trying to transfer my five hours
of DV tape to my PC, but the video is really choppy, basically freezing for
a microsecond every 3 seconds or so and creating a terrible looking movie.
My only thought is that my capture software is dropping frames, and the
little indicator seems to confirm that.
I have now downloaded a few try-before-you-buy capture software programs,
some better some worse, but none of them stops the choppiness, and none of
them mention the problem in their help files.
For the record, I am running a Dell Optiplex with a Pentium 4, 3.0 Ghz and
1 GB of RAM. I manually boosted the Virtual memory to 3000 (from around
2000), but it didn't help.
The relatives are waiting for video! Please help!
Christopher
