Along similar lines - I wonder if anyone could tell what I could use
in the line of a remote control for my cameras (2 - vx2000 and 2 - XL1)
(I use a cheap Sony tripod with a remote and that works better than
the Vera-zoom I also have.

With the Vera-zoom unit I have the same problem with the rec. button
not being sensitive enough to assure me that it is on, or off, and a
bigger problem with the Wide - Tel toggle not being smooth enough to
film soccer games fluidly. I am really willing to go to a much better
system if there is one. Any suggestions?
