The fastest encoder I know of is Fraunhofer's FastEnc.exe...it is about
twice the speed of lame.dll, about 1/12 or less of real time. It is command
line but front ends are available. CDex may be able to use it, never tried.
More info in my dandies in "Codec Capers". Caution: if transcoding (MP3 >
MP3) make sure the source and destination directories are different or
you'll lose both old and new files. Read the "readme" for switch info.
