I've tried several, and if the JVC unit is functioning, they seem to all
work fine. I've used Sony, Memorex, and Philips mainly - whatever
reputable brand is sold cheap in bulk at the time. I've been using
Philips lately and have not had any problems.

I started on the DVD-RWs so that I could transfer programs to my Mac for
editing and finishing in iMovie and iDVD, but now the price of the
DVD-Rs is so low, it really isn't worth the effort, and I just use the
DVD-Rs, and avoid formatting and other steps.

Do persist with JVC on the unit, though. They know all about the
problems, and if you can get high enough up the food chain, it does
appear that they will replace it for you.

Let us know how you get on.
