Upconverting DVD to HD is a joke. Increasing resolution from a low-res
source just involves guessing what the extra pixels should be. It
doesn't add any real information.
Unless there is something wrong with your older combo, I would hold onto
it until the BluRay/HD-DVD war settles down.
