Hey John,
I don't know if the practice is still around, but when I was in
Uganda and Ethiopia a while back, ('bout ten years ago) all the
luggage was lined up outside the aircraft. (747s and 767s)
They filed all the passengers out onto the tarmac and each person had
to walk by it all and identify (with claim checks) his or her luggage
before boarding the plane via the airstairs.
Then all the identified luggage was loaded onboard.
I liked that a lot.
I have no idea how they did it when it rained.
I have no idea if it is still practiced today.
Whatever wasn't spoken for was left behind. (I have no idea where it
went)
