I followed all the steps and successfully got an audiobook in the
audiobook folder on my ipod. There is one annoying problem: There are
38 chapters and I am unable to group them or put them into a title
menu.
Steps:
1. Burn audiobook to mp3
2. Drag files into itunes library
3. Highlight, right-click, and select Convert to AAC (Duplicates will
exist in itunes and source folder)
4. Delete all files in itunes library BUT HIT THE KEEP FILES BUTTON OR
THEY WILL BE DELETED FROM THE SOURCE FOLDER!
5. Manually change the extension from .m4a to .m4b (easiest way is to
simply hit F2, End, backspace once, the type 'b', then Enter)
6. Drag new .m4b files into itunes library
7. Drag files into iPod
Benefits:
1. The files will show up in the audiobooks folder on the iPod.
2. Avoids having the files comingled among your songs.
3. Allows for bookmarking
4. Allows for playback speed settings (you can make the playback speed
slower or faster without losing audio quality)
THE PROBLEM (PLEASE HELP!): Now I have 38 tracks (chapters) in my
audiobooks folder that I cannot seem to group.
I have tried:
1. Selecting all, right-click to get info window, clicking group, and
assigning a name
2. Selecting all, right-click to get info window, using the same name,
artist, album, composer, etc for all the files.
I wouldn't care so much about the grouping if the tracks played
back-to-back. The problem is that I have to manually select the next
chapter to advance.
Any suggestions?
