Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BEATLES: FROM LIVERPOOL TO SAN
FRANCISCO, THE CHILDREN OF CHABANNES, DOLL GRAVEYARD, DUSTY SPRINGFIELD:
LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL, GABBEH, THE HONEYMOONERS, LEAPFROG: LEARN
TO READ AT THE STORYBOOK FACTORY, and TWO FOR THE ROAD:

BEATLES: FROM LIVERPOOL TO SAN FRANCISCO (reviewed by Steve Evans,
overall score 85/100):
"As an assemblage of television interviews and public-domain video
clips, the disc offers a decent chronicle of the Beatles' brief career
(12 years if we begin with their formation; a mere seven years if we
count only their halcyon days)."

THE CHILDREN OF CHABANNES (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score
90/100):
"The thing I really like about The Children of Chabannes is its focus on
the capacity for human goodness."

DOLL GRAVEYARD (reviewed by David Ryan, overall score 79/100):
"Of course, a Full Moon puppet film lives or dies with its puppets. Or,
in this case, its dolls. And, as noted above, these dolls have more than
their fair share of personality."

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD: LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL (reviewed by Steve
Evans, overall score 88/100):
"Feminists may cringe at some of the syrupy, subservient sentiments in
her songs, but she delivers them with such conviction that one is
tempted to chalk up her motivation to wild romanticism and just flow
with the music."

GABBEH (reviewed by Joe Armenio, overall score 94/100):
"The origins of Gabbeh lie in a commission which the director received
to make a documentary about a tribe of nomads in central Iran which
was known for its traditional carpets, or 'gabbehs.' The government
allowed Makhmalbaf to make the film, on the grounds that he couldn't
cause much political trouble out in the boondocks, innocuously
celebrating carpet-weavers."

THE HONEYMOONERS (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 75/100):
"It's not a great movie, and it's definitely not the remake I would want
of the classic show, but it was surprisingly a fun and spry entry in the
pointless remake genre."

LEAPFROG: LEARN TO READ AT THE STORYBOOK FACTORY (reviewed by David
Johnson, overall score 90/100):
"The kids should like the story. The characters are colorful. The
animation is nice to look at. I don't know if it is more interesting
than eating boogers. I don't know if anything is more interesting than
eating boogers for little kids."

TWO FOR THE ROAD (reviewed by Geoffrey Miller, overall score 93/100):
"Of course, just because two actors are talented doesn't mean they have
on-screen chemistry together. These two do. Feigning being in love and
making googly eyes isn't too much of a challenge; convincingly
portraying a long-time couple whose relationship is on the rocks is the
tough part."
