According to my accountant I invested over half a million pounds
($900,000) on capital equipment over the last decade, I doubt I could
raise a 100,000 pounds($180,000) if I had to sell up. It's not all a
loss though as I've been reasonably astute in selling kit before it
become a door stop, so probably had another 100K to 150K ($180K to
$270K) back that way. On top of that it's mostly been written off
against tax anyway.

So long as one has a viable operation these aren't really a net cost.
