That is incorrect.
Avid XPP requires ancient display drivers to function correctly. It has
something to do with the way Avid access the direct show component of
the drivers.
It has f*ck all to do with not being Avid supported.
Avid XPPro (4.x) simply will not work with new nVidia drivers causing
the symptoms the original poster is experiencing. Avid XPPro HD (5.x)
will work with later drivers but again it is best to ensure you keep to
Avid's stated compatible drivers to avoid problems.
Try drivers circa 67.xx for Xpress Pro 4.x
