I wish that I could say that 1997 was 'before my time'. Thanks for the
smiles. However, to your point. I've been buying audio and video gear for
many years, often in great gobs, sometimes for myself, more often for
others. Most of the information I've used to make buying decisions came
from ... you guessed it ... salesmen. I've worked with many who's opinions
and recommendations I've trusted absolutely. I've rarely been disappointed.
Where else are you going to find someone who has broad experience, through
customers, of a great variety of competing equipment, who has found out what
comes back and what sticks, who knows which manufacturers currently back up
their stuff and which don't? You've been dealing with the wrong people if
you think all sellers are untrustworthy. Sure, it makes sense to be
cautious dealing with private sellers you don't know or companies without a
track record. But, to approach all sellers with your level of suspician
makes it difficult to establish buyer-seller relationships that, as they
have in my case, can last decades.
