I think that it depends quite a bit on how often you intend to do
this?

If it's a one time thing, watch it on your PC and be glad you can. If
you plan to do this often, get a DVD player which handles divx/sub
(and/or other subtitle formats). Forget about conversion from
mpeg4ish to mpeg2 and "authoring" to DVD (especially with sub-titles)
and just burn a data disc to play in your new US$50 (or so) disposable
DVD player.

For the best of all worlds, connect your TV to your PC and you'll
never have a file which you can't play on the TV.
