Not quite. A DVD5 does not have a fixed capacity in minutes, even though
many are erroneously labelled '2 hours'. A DVD5 disk has a fixed data
capacity of about 4.5G. At the maximum DVD bit rate of 10Mb/s it can hold
just about one hour. But the DVD standard allows the bit rate to be anything
from that 10Mb/s down to about 2Mb/s, with a commensurate reduction in
quality. So a DVD5 can hold anything from one hour to four or five hours, or
even more at horrible quality. Two hours is only specified as a good balance
between capacity and quality.
