I just got an RCA model DRC247N DVD player, which is probably almost
identical to the DRC245N model. I say this because apparently the 247N
model is so new, RCA doesn't even have it in their list of models at
their website (which, even apart from this, was singularly unhelpful, as
I expected).

Now my problem: While fiddling around with the on-screen menu options, I
"accidentally" chose YUV progressive-scan video output instead of YUV
interlaced (another option is S-Video out, which I can use also). Now,
my TV doesn't support progressive scan, so the picture went haywire for
a moment and then went blank (okay, technically blue -- the way the
picture looks if there's no input signal at all).

I tried to "undo" what I had done, but, not being able to see the menu
anymore, I couldn't hit on the magic key sequence to choose YUV
interlaced or S-Video. According to the manual, the "default" mode is
S-Video, but after turning off the machine and even unplugging it, I
can't make it "forget" the video output mode I chose.

I can't believe someone can choose the wrong menu option and then never
be able to use the player ever again! This is crazy. The manual
doesn't say anything about resetting the machine to it's "factory
settings", but there's got to be a way of doing that...

So, does anyone know:
1. how to reset the player to its default video output setting; or
2. the exact sequence of key presses needed to choose YUV interlaced as
the video output mode?

Thanks in advance for any help (please respond in the newsgroup).

P.S. - The answer to #2 should be a key sequence that starts with the
"set up" button, then selects the "General Setup" menu, "Video Out"
option, then "YUV Interlaced" option. Like I said, I just can't get the
correct sequence of "downs", "OKs", etc., to do that.
