I own a Sony DCR-HC42 camcorder I purchased about a year ago. I didn't
install any software, since I didn't need it at the time, and I don't
like to gum up my computer with extra software. I intend to use Adobe
Premiere and Nero to make my DVDs, so I don't need all the fancy movie
making stuff that was supposed to come with the camera, I just need a
USB driver so Premiere can recognize the camera.
Now that I'm ready to capture the video off my camcorder, I went to
download the driver so I could capture the video, and there isn't one
available! When I spoke with Sony support, they said I must purchase
the Picture Package software CD that was supposed to come with the
camera for the outrageous cost of $70!
There's a pretty good chance the CD did come with the camera, but that
was a year ago, and it is long gone. I never supposed I wouldn't be
able to download what I needed to use a piece of HARDWARE. I even
still have the User's Manual and the receipt.
Anyone know the proper USB driver to get my computer to recognize my
camera, and somewhere I could download?
Thanks, Amanda
